Added Touches: Have Fun & Be Comfortable

I hate high heels! Yes, I know they look great, but yikes- they hurt.

If you read my first post http://yesiamgettingmarried.blogspot.com/2010/01/i-said-yes.html you will know that I want my wedding to be more like a party as opposted to a traditional wedding celebration ( I will soon let you know what I am not doing or having at my wedding).

While at the wedding reception, I want everyone present to have fun and be comfortable at the same time. In oder to accomplish this mission, we will be providing all the ladies with flip-flops at the reception.

I purchased the flip-flops at http://www.oldnavy.com/. I bought 100 pairs ($2.50 each) of the metallic in gold and brown. 25 gold in size 7 and 25 brown in size 8. As well as 25 gold in size 8 and 25 brown in size 8. I thought 7 and 8 were the most common size. Here is the link. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/mpp.do?promoid=122024&promorefid=122024&promotype=mup

Rather then buying them on-line I called 1-800-OLD-NAVY (1-800-653-6289) and spoke to a Customer Service Rep. They were great and the flip flops arrived quickly!

Do you have other fun and comfortable ideas? If so, please share...

I said, Yes!

Of Course I Said, Yes!

Of course I said yes! That was before I cried my eyes out and nearly fainted!

My engagement was a huge surprise... I did not pick out my engagement ring...We did not sit down and have the "talk" (but I did ask him about a billion times "when are we going to get married?" )...I really had no idea...and I would not have it any other way!!

On Dec. 20, 2009, after 6 six years of "knowing each other" and an unofficial 3 1/2 years...I said, YES! on Dec. 20, 2009, while visting the "happiest place on earth" Disneyland.

Wow! I was speechless and not to mention that the ring was beautiful!

After the initial shock wore off, I asked him, "who else knows?" He replied by saying, your mom, your dad, your sister, my mom, my dad, my sister, my brother and two of my friends!

Really?!?!

"How long have they know?" "About 2 months" he said.

Did all these people really keep a secret from me all this time! And my family actually kept a secret!?!? Unbelievable!"

My mom can't keep a secret longer than an afternoon... and he also asked my dad for permission!

How perfect is that?!

I quickly called home (which is South Texas by the way) and told everyone the good news! My mom replied back by saying, "I already knew and I have a whole binder full of information to show you!' YIKES! This could be bad.....

I am clueless about planning a wedding. I was never one of those little girls who always imaged her wedding day. Really, I wasn't!

But there are a few things I know about my wedding. They are:

I don't want to be a traditional bride ; I want our wedding to be a party (I/we don't want to be the center of attention); We want to get married in Las Vegas (no, not a cheesy drive-thru chapel, but an elegant hotel).

I welcome you to come with me as I embark in this amazing journey...

I would love to hear your engagement story?
